CREVE COEUR ~ Philip Ray “Phil” Stanley, 68, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 11:41 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 at Northwestern Medical Hospital in Chicago.

Born April 25, 1949 in Peoria to Ralph V. and Lunda A. (Phillips) Stanley, he married Vera L. (Rynearson) Smith on May 19, 2007 in Pekin. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Troy (Britny) Stanley of Huntley, Gary (Dawn) Camp of North Pekin and Chad (Lindsay) Camp of Peoria; three daughters, Holly (Dean) Hauk of Glasford, Amanda (Bill) Shelton of Yates City and Tricia (Scott) Farquhar of Hopedale; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and one brother, Larry (Belinda) Stanley of Houston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Phil was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1967 to 1971.

He had worked at Keystone Steel & Wire, retiring in 2004. Earlier in his career, Phil served as the Woodford County Deputy Sheriff from 1971 to 1974.

Phil was a former member of the NRA and Buckskinners Association. He was also a member of the “nightly coffee club” at Cobbler Corner.

He loved collecting knives, guns and riding his motorcycle. Phil was a loving family man, his greatest joy was being a “papa”.

His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Steve Weber will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Yates City Cemetery.
