PEKIN ~ Mary Louise Hohimer, 78, of Pekin, passed away at 11:18 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017 at her home.

Born March 5, 1939 in Mapleton to Eugene John and Hazel Elizabeth (Reader) Irving, she married Gerald Dean Hohimer on May 9, 1997 in Pekin.  He survives.

Also surviving are five children, Johnette Collins of Delavan, John (Tracy) Collins, Jr. of South Pekin, Joe (Marlene) Collins of Middleburg, Florida, Joyce (David) Kvello of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Jean (Sue) Collins of Cibolo, Texas; three step-children, Dean (Karen) Hohimer, Michael (Sherry) Hohimer and Deborah (Mario) Santana, all of Pekin; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wilbur (Holly) Irving of Pekin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two granddaughters.

Mary worked at Caterpillar, Inc. for 25 years, retiring May 1, 1999 as a parts filler at the Morton Parts Facility.  She previously worked at Kmart, J. C. Penney’s and Ponderosa.

Mary enjoyed playing in the dirt with all of her flowers.  She was an animal lover and was a huge Elvis fan.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. James McClarey will officiate.  Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will be at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
