EAST PEORIA ~ Marvin D. Ulm, 98, of East Peoria, passed away at 12:53 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2017 at Grandview Alzheimer’s Special Care in Peoria.

Born July 12, 1918 in London Mills to Howard and Clarissa Ulm, he married Marcella Geier.  He later married Margaret E. Ifft on October 8, 1967 in Peoria.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Steven (Jami) Ulm and Kenneth Ulm, both of Peoria; two daughters, Patricia Fagan and Penny (Frank) Gibbs, both of East Peoria; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one brother, Bill Ulm of Sun City, California.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and three sisters.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

Marvin worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 35 years as a machine operator, retiring in 1981.

He enjoyed gardening and was a huge fan of the Chicago Cubs.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Peoria.

His funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.  Pastor Bob Phillips will officiate.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin, with military rites accorded.
