PEKIN ~ Leslie Earl Beadles, 70, of Pekin, passed away at 5:05 p.m. Monday, May 29, 2017 at his home.

Born March 25, 1947 in Fargo, North Dakota to Milton W. and Goldie (Hagan) Beadles, he married Sharon L. Eldert on July 11, 1970 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Chad (Kim) Beadles of Greencastle, IN; one daughter, Cyndi (Thomas) Childs, II of Green Valley; six grandchildren, Tia, Thomas, III, Caeled, Jacob, Cavan and Aiden; one sister, Alicia (Gordon) Wilson of Normal and three brothers, William (Sandy) Beadles of Pekin, Herbert (Anita) Beadles of Tucson, AZ and Lowell (Thena) Beadles of Colorado Springs, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Les served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He attained the rank of Sergeant and served as an airplane mechanic.

He worked for the Peoria & Pekin Union Railway for 34 years, retiring in 1999.  His retirement job was working as a bus driver for several area agencies, including the Salvation Army and then Tazewell-Woodford Head Start Program.

Les enjoyed working on and driving antique tractors with his brother.

He was a member of Pekin Bible Church, where he had served as Treasurer and as a member of the Board of Elders.  He also enjoyed serving his church by driving the church bus to take the youth group on mission trips.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Pastor Chad Nightingale will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the funeral.  Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, with military rites accorded by the United States Air Force and Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pekin Bible Church Missions Fund, 2405 Court, Pekin, IL 61554.
