PEKIN ~ Kenneth Edward Alward, Jr., 70 of Pekin, passed at 10:20 a.m. Friday, July 12, 2019 at his residence.

He was born August 31, 1948 in Pekin to Kenneth Edward and Betty Jean (Covey) Alward.  His parents preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Philip S. (Misty) Alward of Minier; two daughters, Jennifer Ann Alward of San Diego, California and Michelle D. Alward of Pekin; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Bonnette of Pekin and Carol David of Colorado Springs, Colorado and one brother, Carl (Beth) Bishop of Pekin.

He was a graduate of Pekin Community High School and attended San Joaquin Valley College and Western Apostolic Bible College.  He also served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.

Ken had an adventurous spirit and traveled in Italy, Greece and his favorite city Barcelona, Spain.  He last worked for Bradford-White in Grand Rapids, Michigan as a fork lift driver and shipping clerk.

He was passionate about his politics, a strong supporter of the LGBT as well as human rights and equal rights.  He was always rooting for the underdog.

Ken was a spiritual person and a Christian.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.  Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.
