CREVE COEUR ~ Janice J. Lang, 94, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at her home.

Born September 7, 1922 in Peoria to Harvey and Mary Lou (Seiwell) Jefford, she married Fred Lang on January 25, 1941 in Peoria.  He died in February of 1979.  She also was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are three sons, Ronald Dean (Donna) Lang of Marquette Heights, Gary Michael Lang and Fred Joseph (Shelia) Lang, both of Creve Coeur; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Frances Ann Wilson of East Peoria.

A homemaker, Janice liked gardening and tending to her flowers.  She also enjoyed making jellies and going mushroom hunting.  She loved following our country’s space program and playing cards and board games.  She was active in the earlier years of her life as a Cub Scout Den Mother and with the Parent Teacher Association, both in Creve Coeur.

Janice was loved and appreciated by all who knew her.  She had a servant’s heart with a gift for taking care of the sick and elderly and a never ending love for children.

She was a member of Peoria First Free Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.

Her funeral will be at noon Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur.  The Rev. B. Elliott Renfroe will officiate.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in Pekin.
