PEKIN ~ James Garland Morris, 74, of Pekin, passed away at 10 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2017 at his home.

Born November 12, 1942 in Hickman, Kentucky to James Finis and Annie Lee (Williams) Morris, he married Judith A. Pryor on June 25, 1960 in Palmyra, Missouri.  She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Pam (Quinn) McKenzie of Peoria and Lisa Jackson of Pekin; one son, Tony (Carol) Morris of Rock Island; nine grandchildren, Dallas (Mary) McKenzie, Lauren (Chris) Mackey, Houston (Caitlin Keturi) McKenzie, T.J. (Fon) Morris, Cody (Brittni) Morris, Kyle (Elyse) Morris, Austin Jackson, Jeffrey Jackson, and Noah Jackson; ten great-grandchildren; one brother, Bobby (Betty) Morris of Pekin; and one sister, Helen Jordan of Tennessee.  Also surviving are Jeff Jackson and Tiffany Morris.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister; and five brothers.

James worked for Caterpillar, Inc. for 30 years, retiring as a fork lift driver at the Mapleton Foundry.

He was a member of Broom Tree Fellowship in Pekin.

James loved to shoot pool, NASCAR, and working in his yard and on cars.  He had a genuine love for animals, loved his family, and was a much loved man with a tender heart and great sense of humor.

His funeral will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Pastor Chuck Grogan will officiate.  Visitation will be from 4 to 5:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Private burial will be at Spring Lake Cemetery in rural Manito.
