PEKIN ~ Howard Ellis Lisanby, 87, of Pekin, passed away at 8:01 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Hallmark House in Pekin, surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 19, 1932 in Dawson Springs, Kentucky to Albert and Bertha Jane (Menser) Lisanby, he married Ellene Pinnegar on May 20, 1951 in Princeton, Kentucky. She died April 27, 2017 in Green Valley. He also was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Stephen Slaton; one brother and five sisters.

Surviving are his three daughters, Janice (Jerry) O’Bleness of East Peoria, Rita (Roger) Klundt of Pekin and Rhonda Hibdon of Jeffersonville, Indiana; one son, Kevin Lisanby of Pekin; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Fran) Lisanby of Dawson Springs, Kentucky; one sister, Phyllis Stallons of Cadiz, Kentucky and many nieces and nephews.

He retired from Pekin Energy and later retired from Tazwood. Howard and Ellene were also foster parents to 10 children. He was a long time member of Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin, where he was a Sunday School teacher, drove and was a mechanic for their church buses and a member of the church choir. He served as a union Chaplin while at Corn Products. He went on mission trips to Albania, Kazakhstan and Mexico. He loved traveling with his grandchildren. He also loved playing his guitar, singing and taking pictures of nature.

We would like to thank the staff from Harbor Light Hospice, the staff at Hallmark House and Autumn Accolade for their care they gave to Dad. A very special thank you to Sonia Jones for her care and love she gave Dad.

His funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2019 at Liberty Baptist Church in Pekin, officiated by Pastor David Auxier.  Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  Graveside services will follow in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
