PEKIN ~ Glen William Wood, 88, of Pekin, went to be with our Lord and Savior at 8:27 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was formerly of Marquette Heights.

Born August 5, 1928 in Morris to Elvin and Lorene (Campbell) Wood, he married Frances Ann Wilkinson on September 29, 1951 in Morris.  She survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Thomas (Claudia) Wood of Bettendorf, Iowa, Michael “Mick” (Jodi) Wood of North Henderson, Kevin (Kari) Wood of Pekin, and Christopher (Jodi) Wood of Mackinaw; two daughters, Linda (Cary) Martin of Pekin and Mary (Steve Kus) Johnson of Brookfield; seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Barbara Butz of Morris.

He was a veteran of the United States Army from 1946 to 1947 being stationed in Leghorn, Italy and later served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1953, stationed in Korea.

Glen was a journeyman lineman and foreman with IBEW Local #51 in Springfield for 50 years, retiring in 1994.  He also had sold real estate in Pekin.

He was a long-time resident of Marquette Heights where he served on the Library Board, had been a member of the Marquette Heights Lions Club, Little League and as a Boy Scout Master.

Glen was a faithful member of Sacre Coeur Catholic Church in Creve Coeur, serving in various capacities.  He later joined Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville.

Glen was lovingly devoted to his wife and family.  He was a vivacious, friendly man who will always be remembered for his sense of humor and never knowing a stranger.  He was very generous with his time and talents and enjoyed working and playing outdoors, traveling, and music.

His funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Bartonville, with Father David Heinz as the celebrant.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin, where a Scripture service will be held at 3:30 p.m.  Further visitation will be from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church.  Entombment will be at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria, where military rites will be accorded.
