PEKIN ~ Everett Leroy Juhl, 86, of Pekin, passed away at 7:52 p.m. Monday, July 17, 2017 at Unity Point Health-Pekin.

Born February 15, 1931 in Delavan to Richard and Vada (Van Dyke) Juhl, he married Adda Robertson on May 8, 1951 in Corinth, Mississippi.  He later married Alice Haynes on October 12, 1984 in Potosi, Missouri.  She survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Melody Evetta of Decatur, Tonya (Kent) Mears and Malora (Jim) Lowery, both of Mt. Zion; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Ester Fouts of Pekin; one brother, Lester (Barbara) Juhl of Pekin and fifty-four “elite” foster children.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Leona.

 Everett was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Pekin where he had been very active.

He had served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

Everett had worked as an autobody technician for Decatur Autobody for 10 years, retiring in 1996. During his time in the Autobody industry, he was the supervisor of many and the teacher of many who are still in the industry.

He enjoyed woodworking, particularly making bird houses and log cabins, camping, boating, bar-b-ques, singing and playing Bluegrass music.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Charles Everly will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Pekin.  Military rites will be provided by the Military Funeral Honors Team and the Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team.
