CREVE COEUR ~ Edward C. “Ed” Walker, 76, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 10:10 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016 at his home.



Born June 24, 1939 in Mapleton to Carl O. and Sophia (Herold) Walker, he married Iretta Nall on May 28, 1966 in Edwards. She survives.



Also surviving are one step-daughter, Lynnette Hemp of Creve Coeur; one grandson, Michael (Diane ) Hemp of Creve Coeur; one great-granddaughter, Stephanie (Mark) Aeschliman, II of Creve Coeur; one great-grandson, Brad (Tanya) Hemp of Creve Coeur; four great-great-granddaughters, Grace Aeschliman, Hadley Aeschliman, Avery Hemp and Bristol Lee Aeschliman, all of Creve Coeur; two great-great-grandsons, Mark Aeschliman III and Oakley Hemp, both of Creve Coeur; and two brothers, Rick (Kelly) Walker and Randy Walker, both of East Peoria; six sisters, Jean (Don) Eitenmiller, Kay Gass, Kathryn Klingler, Diane (Joe) Kramer, Margaret (Dick) Kohene and Betty Dudley.



He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Julia Umholtz, Barbara Ingle and Gail Walker.



Ed was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1958 to 1959 on the USS Boston.



He worked as a surveyor for 55 years, last working for River City Construction in Peoria. He previously worked for 20 years for Chardel Inc. in Chicago.



Ed enjoyed woodworking and watching sports, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Bradley Braves and Chicago Bulls basketball fan.



His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, 2016 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. Father Michael Andrejek will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, where military rites will be provided by the U.S. Navy and Tazewell Military Rites Team.



In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 4722 N. Sheridan Road, Peoria, IL 61614.
