MORTON ~ Donald Lewis “Don” Foiles, 79, of Morton, passed away at 5:04 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his residence. 

He was born November 21, 1937 to William “Lee” and Mima (Puterbaugh) Foiles, he married Shawna Wood of January 21, 1995 in Pekin.  She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Douglas (Anne-Renee) Foiles of San Diego, California, Josh (Joy) Whitman of Pekin and Marcus (Alicia) Whitman of Morton; two daughters, Deborah Lowery of Washington and Corby Whitman of Morton; fifteen grandchildren; and one brother, Leon “Pete” (Margaret) Foiles of Kansas City, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.

Don had proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp.

He had worked for CILCO, retiring in 1996 after many years as a relief shift supervisor at Edwards Station.

Don was a past member of the Ducks Unlimited Woodford County Chapter and a member of the American Legion Post 318 in Morton.

He enjoyed building and racing stock cars and was a private pilot.  He liked going hunting and fishing.  He was a talented artist who loved painting, carving wood and making decoys.  He also enjoyed cooking, traveling and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

There will be a celebration of Don’s life at a later date.  Cremation rites will be accorded.  Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Heart of Illinois Down’s Syndrome Association at 325 E. Queenwood Rd. Morton, IL 61550.
