CREVE COEUR ~ Dixie Lee Cox, 77, of Creve Coeur, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at her residence.

Born January 19, 1940 in Peoria to David B. and Winefred (O’Harra) Dunbar, she married Billy Franklin Cox on July 21, 1957 in Peoria County. He died April 26, 2009 in Creve Coeur. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Butch and Chuck Dunbar.

Surviving are two daughters, Krystal (Peter) Blair of East Peoria and Ginger (John Griffith) McCann of Marquette Heights; two sons, Keith Cox of Creve Coeur and Franklin (Patricia) Cox of East Peoria; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, plus one on the way and one sister, Debbie Schaffer of Brandon, FL.

Dixie had worked as a school bus driver for Tazewell County Head Start, retiring in 2011 after 32 years of service.

She loved to play bingo and go fishing and camping, but her greatest joy was spending quality time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. The Rev. James C. McClarey will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
