CREVE COEUR ~ David Wayne Cottingham, Sr., 66, of Creve Coeur, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2016 at his home.

Born July 23, 1950 in Pekin to Pearl Lloyd and Ethel (Barnd) Cottingham, Sr., he married Charlene “Charlie” Monroe on April 26, 2007 in Richmond Hill, Georgia. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dawn Holloway of Pekin and Kitty Cottingham-Kelley of Peoria; two sons, David Cottingham, Jr. of Morton and Daniel Cottingham of Delavan; one step-son, Ted Beever of Pekin; one step-daughter, Erin Beever of Pekin; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one brother, Adam (Debbie) Cottingham of Detroit, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Pearl Cottingham, Jr. and two sisters, Ethel Vogel and Barbara Rigney.

David was a proud member of Laborer’s Union Local 231, retiring after 35 years of service. He had also worked at Koch St. Bar & Grill for six years as a bouncer.

He earned his black belt in Tae Kwon Do from Choi Bros. School of Martial Arts in Pekin.

David was an avid CBer for many years, going by the handle “Bushwacker”. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing and spending time with his dogs and cats.

He was a past member Faith Baptist Church and Zion Baptist Church in Pekin.

David loved life and never met a stranger. He’ll be greatly missed.

Cremation has been accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Creve Coeur. There will be no visitation or services as per David's wishes.
