PEKIN ~ Charles Ehrett, 90, of Pekin, passed away at 7:54 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Hallmark House Nursing Center in Pekin. 

Born August 7, 1926 in Pekin to Charles and Jessie (VanNattan) Ehrett, he married Wilma Jean Adcock on June 1, 1947 in Creve Coeur.  She passed away in 2008.  He also was preceded in death by his son, Charles “Chick” Ehrett and two brothers. 

Surviving are one daughter, Sue (Rick) Sombeck of Pekin; one son, Gary (Carline) Ehrett of Manito; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Matthew) Wallace, Jason (Abbey) Sombeck, and Sara Sombeck, all of Pekin and Tori Ehrett of Cross Plains, Wisconsin; three step-grandchildren, Nick Nelson of Manito, Dale (Alisha) Halverson of East Peoria and Caitland Halverson of Manito; nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Isaac, Charlie, and Julia Wallace, Jonathon and Josephine Sombeck, Camryn Grashoff, Kevin and Harper Halverson; and one sister, Joyce Watkins of Peoria. 

Charles served in the United States Navy during World War II. 

An entrepreneur, Charles was a jack of all trades, and an expert in many.  He was an avid golfer.  He loved to travel and he enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bulls and his grandchildren, not necessarily in that order. 

Cremation rites will be accorded.  A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is in charge of arrangements.

 Memorial contributions may be given to the Children’s Hospital of Illinois at 530 NE Glen Oak Ave. Peoria, IL 61637.
