PEKIN ~ Avis Ann Marsh, 80, of Pekin, passed away peacefully at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017 at her home.

Born September 1, 1937 in Mount Vernon to Halton and Rhea Fern (Fleener) Harrison, she married the Rev. Robert Marsh on August 25, 1968 in Eureka,  He died March 15, 2010 in Peoria.  Also preceding her in death are one son, Kevin and one daughter, Lee Ann.

Surviving are one daughter, Kathy (Mike) Mitzelfelt of Pekin; three sons, Scott (Jamie) Marsh of Claremore, Oklahoma, Bob (Brooke) Short of Gibson City and Lonnie Short of Chicago; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one sister, Brenda (Dan) Englund of Morton.  Avis also had step children, including Bruce Marsh, Rick Marsh, Rex Marsh, Robin Marsh, Gary Marsh, Connie Marsh and Angela Gardner.  She often mentioned the helping hands of her grandson Matt (Niki) Kirk and step-son Bruce Marsh in the days prior to her passing.

Avis was an avid sports fan who enjoyed the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, Bradley Basketball and University of Illinois Basketball.  She enjoyed gardening and plants, as many joked her living room looked like a Vietnam rain forest.  Avis had a very good sense of humor and truly enjoyed family time.  The littlest things in life made her feel honored and she would not hesitate to show her appreciation.  Avis truly was a special lady who will be missed by those around her.

There will be no formal arrangements.  The family would just ask that you remember Avis for the fun, giving and jovial person she was.  Avis is at peace now and with her loved ones she missed so dearly.  God is good all the time, and all the time God is good.  Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin is assisting the family with arrangements.
