PEKIN ~ Alberta L. Hoak, 79, of Pekin, passed away at 7:19 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Aperion Care in Bloomington.

Born August 3, 1937 in Pekin to Joseph and Jessie (Shay) Phillips, she married Paul L. Hoak, Sr. on November 5, 1955 in Pekin.  He died July 21, 2007 in Pekin.  She also was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Rebecca Umholtz; three brothers, Joe, Ralph and James and one sister, Jo Ann Rynearson.

Surviving are two sons, Paul L. Hoak, Jr. and Luren Hoak, both of Pekin; three daughters, Rhonda Hoak, Jessie (Greg) Crawford, both of Pekin and Alice Crawley of Manito; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and four brothers, William (Frieda) Phillips, Daniel (Rose) Phillips, Larry (Sandy) Phillips, all of Pekin and Jerry (Jennifer) Phillips of Springfield, Missouri.  She also leaves a stepbrother, Jim (Darla) House and family of Mackinaw.

A homemaker, Alberta was devoted to her grandchildren, used to crochet a lot and enjoyed watching religious broadcasts and evangelists on television.

Alberta was formerly a longtime member of Pekin First Assembly of God, where she had also been active in the Women’s Ministry of the church.

Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin.  The Rev. Michael Crawford will officiate.  Visitation will be one hour before the funeral.  Burial will be in Woodrow Cemetery in rural Pekin.
