PEKIN ~ Alan R. Lemons, 56, of Pekin, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017 at his residence.

Alan was born August 1, 1960 in Phoenix, Arizona to Laray S. and Darla J. (McHenry) Lemons.

Surviving are his parents, Laray and Darla Lemons of Lawton, Oklahoma; one son, Dylan Laray Lemons of Pekin; a sister, Robin (Stewart) Valentine of Elgin, Oklahoma; a nephew, Spencer (Hannah) Valentine of Florida; a niece, Krystin (Anthony) Anderson of Fletcher, Oklahoma; a great niece, Kinsley Valentine; three great nephews, Easton Valentine, Dawson Anderson, Luke Valentine and two step-daughters, Amanda and Amber Olson.

Alan attended schools and played baseball in Phoenix through his grade school years.  Alan then moved with his parents to Lawton, Oklahoma, where he continued to play baseball, which was a sport he loved and graduated in 1978 from Eisenhower High School there.

He worked as a typesetter in his family business, A-OK Rubber Stamp Co. for 18 years and loved to do lawn work on the side.  He was a member of Western Hills Christian Church and Later Carriage Hills Christian Church in Lawton.

He later moved to Pekin with his family and worked at PDC Labs in Peoria.  He said it was the best job he ever had and loved it.  They were really good to him there.  After moving to Pekin he attended the Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.

He loved to play and coach softball and later even coached his son, Dylan, in the several sports he played.

Alan had a generous heart and loved helping people who were in need - mowing their lawns or whatever they needed.  He was there for them.

His memorial visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes in Pekin.  Cremation has been accorded.  No services are planned.
